Karen’s professional memberships include: American Psychological Association, California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, National Association of Professional Women, San Gabriel Valley Psychological Society, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, International Board of Christian Counseling, and Association for Comprehensive Energetic Psychology. In 2011, she was honored by the National Association of Professional Women for her professional success and named one of their Women of the Year.

Karen Allan is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist as well as founder and president of Crossroads Family Therapy. She has been counseling for 26 years, working with individuals, couples, families, and children. Karen has worked with broad spectrum of clients including: bipolar disorder, counseling young adults (age 18-40), sexual abuse, childhood trauma, marriage crisis, grief and loss, death of a parent through suicide, cancer, etc., post traumatic stress in returning military veterans and their families, the specific counseling needs of pastors and missionaries, psychological formation, and spiritual formation.

A large percentage of Karen’s clients come from cross-cultural backgrounds. As a result, Karen is adept at understanding the needs of her racially and ethnically diverse clientele as well as multilingual immigrant families. An avid global traveller, who is always looking to further understand how different cultures integrate counseling into their healing, Karen has taught graduate level counseling courses overseas.

Karen also enjoys working with and collaborating with physicians, psychiatrists, pastors, alternative medicine practitioners, dieticians, and educational specialists to ensure that her clients’ needs are diagnosed and treated in the most holistic ways possible.

Karen serves as an expert witness in the court of family law, and is a clinical supervisor, which allows interns to work under her able guidance.
